Dr. Tehrany specializes in minimally invasive surgery of the shoulder and knee, including rotator cuff repair and dislocation repair in the shoulder, as well as meniscus repair and ligament reconstruction in the knee. In his work, Dr. Tehrany is led by the belief that treatment of various orthopedic conditions should include both traditional allopathic and non-allopathic methods, ranging from conservative management to surgical intervention.

A native of New York City, Dr. Tehrany graduated from Polytechnic Preparatory Country Day School in Brooklyn where he has served on the Board of Governors. He completed his undergraduate training through the Brooklyn College 7-year BA/MD program and received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine.

He completed his residency training in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. During that period, he worked with the team physicians for the New York Jets, New York Rangers, and New York Islanders. He then went on to complete a one-year fellowship in arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder with one of the field’s noted pioneers, Dr. Stephen Burkhart, through Baylor College of Medicine in Texas. Currently, Dr. Tehrany serves as Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in Manhattan.

Dr. Tehrany has taken an active part in various research studies that have been presented at numerous local, national, and international meetings on topics involving the shoulder, hip, and spine. He is a highly esteemed member of many organizations, including the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. He has served on the Board of Directors for the New York State Society of Orthopaedic Surgeons, as well as the Physicians Advisory Board for the New York County Medical Society.

Currently, as a devoted orthopedic doctor, Dr. Tehrany is working on development and improvement of minimally invasive techniques in the management of shoulder and knee disorders. His orthopedic research interests began at the Hospital for Special Surgery where he first published work on cartilage metabolism in 1993. Today, he serves as a journal peer reviewer for Arthroscopy: the Journal of Arthroscopic and Related Surgery.
